Ideally, you should clean your patio regularly, but if life has been hectic and you haven't done much in the way of maintenance lately, now is a good time to catch up on some essential tasks.
This article provides an overview of the process used in creating a hardscape brick paver patio. The basic supplies needed include the selected pavers, crushed stone, paver base, long 1 inch conduit pipes, leveling board, and edge restraints. Tools needed include a compactor, cutoff saw, shovels, etc. We explain the basic steps, giving some basic knowledge that is useful if selecting a contractor to do the "heavy lifting," so you'll know what questions to ask. The discussion is based on Interlocking Concrete Pavement Institute (ICPI) standards that should be used by any dependable contractor.
One area where a power washer does come in handy is on the floor. Use a power washing attachment to scrub your patio floor clean. It works a treat on concrete, tiles, and hard surfaces. Once your floor is nice and clean, reseal and add fresh grout if you have a tiled floor, re-varnish a timber floor, or invest in some new rugs.
